Brindle is a cozy café tucked just off St. Catharines’ main downtown strip, located downstairs at 160 St Paul St. Its lower-level setting creates a quiet retreat from the street’s bustle—a spot where locals often settle in with a book or meet friends over carefully crafted drinks and light fare. The atmosphere mixes a clean, open design with warm touches like a fireplace and two patios that are perfect for sunny afternoons.

The café stands out for its specialty drinks including a smooth hojicha latte, a spicy sticky chai, and a comforting London Fog, each around CA$6.25. Beyond coffee, Brindle offers refreshing non-coffee options such as hibiscus lemonade and peach cream soda, alongside some homemade bakery items and breakfast sandwiches made in-house, emphasizing fresh, from-scratch preparation right down to their bread and sausage. This focus on quality ingredients shows in how attentive they are—from slicing fresh tomatoes for a salad only after an order is placed, to offering an inviting water station and free WiFi for anyone wanting to linger.

Weekends often bring an added bonus of free street parking nearby, making it easier for visitors to drop by and stay awhile. The owners, Carlos and Nicole, are known for their welcoming approach, enhancing the feeling that this is a neighborhood gathering spot as much as a café. Whether you’re looking for a mid-morning coffee break, a casual lunch, or a comfortable place to work remotely, Brindle fits naturally into the rhythm of downtown St. Catharines. Vegetarians might find the current food menu somewhat limited, but the fresh and thoughtfully made baked goods and sandwiches appeal broadly.

Overall, Brindle works well for those who appreciate a laid-back, community-oriented environment with quality drinks and simple, fresh food. Early afternoons through to early evenings on sunny days are particularly nice times to enjoy the patios or soak up the interior’s airy vibe. It’s a spot where you can feel relaxed enough to stay awhile, whether catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet moment indoors.

A beautiful coffee spot with free street parking on weekends. The service is wonderful, and the coffee is excellent. The cozy atmosphere makes it perfect for chatting with friends or enjoying a good book. I’ll definitely be coming back! It would be even better if they added some vegetarian sandwich options to the menu like a caprese sandwich

By lucky chance, we popped into The Brindle in St. Catharines—just off the city’s main downtown street. As you open the door, you head down a series of stairs and are pleasantly surprised by the cool, open-space vibe. It felt so comfortable, and we were warmly greeted right away. It only took us a few minutes to choose something from the menu. I can honestly say the breakfast sandwich may have been the best I’ve ever had—clean simplicity that brought out all the right flavors. The roasted veggies with the house focaccia were also very good. They have a cool little outdoor patio that overlooks a basin. Parking is metered with the Honk app, and prices are reasonable. Here’s what I say: if you find yourself in downtown St. Kitts, stop in—you’ll enjoy it. Saluti!

Locally owned and operated. Carlos and Nicole are the kindest people you can meet. Bread is made in house. Sausage is made in house. Baked goods are made in house. Food is so good here. Wow, the list goes on. Great atmosphere. Beautiful interior design. Two patios for your enjoyment. Fire place one can sit by. Feel like you can chill out here all day. Free WiFi. Water station. No credit card surcharge. Clean facility. Clean washrooms. Bus stops out front. Bicycle racks across the street.

Beautiful space. Attention to detail. Fresh food. Sent this text to my sisters while there; “Brindle on St. Paul Street is beautiful food and beautiful atmosphere. It’s just a door at street level and you walk down to it. Food is freshly made. They literally started cutting my tomato’s for salad after I ordered. Delicious.”

I've loved Brindle since it opened. Beautiful, bright and warm atmosphere, top notch food and coffee, and super kind and thoughtful owners. We had Carlos and his team host a private event for us... a special birthday party, and we were so so pleased with how it all turned out. I highly recommend having Brindle cater your event... right in their gorgeous space. It's intimate and beautiful, and Carlos will shape the menu to your likes and preferences.

Such a lovely cafe in the heart of St Catherine's. The food we had was terrific and the service was top notch. Combine that with some really great decor and an excellent location and you've got yourself the perfect coffee spot.

Was surprised by this cafe, walked in expecting a small space only to be greeted by a beautifully constructed cafe. A nice little patio, tons of natural light, and spacious seating. Coffee was solid and they have tons of snacks and food items you can choose from. If you’re in the St. Catharines area it’s worth a visit.
